Wishless

June 11th, 2025

“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly.”
— St. Francis de Sales

Wishes sound beautiful.
But they are just cages dressed as dreams.

We don’t notice how tightly we grip them.
Or how much they pull us out of the present.

We wish for what isn’t.
And forget to live what is.

We think we’re chasing hope.
But often, we’re running from reality.

Wishes whisper “It should be different.”
Life whispers “But this is what’s here.”

Every wish becomes a condition.
A rule for happiness.
A timeline for peace.

But life doesn’t follow rules.
It unfolds.

Wishes keep us waiting.
Postponing our joy.
Bargaining with time.

Letting go isn’t giving up.
It’s giving in—
to the moment,
to the breath,
to the truth.

Peace is not in getting everything you wished for. It’s in realizing you never needed to.
